DINNER 177: Monday, June 26, 2006

Tonight was a very simple dinner — a Tuna Melt made with oil-packed tuna, scallions, a bit of onion, mayonnaise, salt & pepper, then loaded on toast and topped with sliced fresh tomatos and cheese. Pop it under the broiler for a moment or two,…

Reading: Katz on Dogs

Reading: Katz on Dogs

I started (just barely) reading KATZ ON DOGS. We met this author at Wendy’s vet conference and were impressed with him personally. Wendy has read this book and really enjoyed it, so I am looking forward to it as well.

DINNER 176: Sunday, June 25, 2006

Dewey's PizzaAfter our Bridge Climb, our group (Ted, Tracy, Julie, Mark, Robin, Dave, Ron, Wendy, and Drew) went to Dewey’s Pizza at Newport on the Levee for their wonderful calzones and salads. I had an Amish Chicken, Goat Cheese, and Whole Roasted Garlic Calzone. Wendy had a Proscuitto, Goat Cheese, and Pine Nut Calzone, and we split one of their excellent house salads (greens with pine nuts, dried cranberries, goat cheese, and Dewey’s house dressing).

DINNER 175: Saturday, June 24, 2006 — Jean-Robert at Pigall's

What a meal this evening — we were certainly “eating strong!” during this culinary tour-de-force. Wendy & I dined at Jean-Robert at Pigall’s, a 4-star French restaurant in downtown Cincinnati. Jean-Robert at Pigall’s innovative three-course prix fixe menu features a delectable array of appetizers, entrees,…

HOMEARAMA 2006

HOMEARAMA 2006

Today, Wendy & I went to HOMEARAMA 2006 Luxury Edition at Long Cove. All 10 of the homes on display cost more than 1 million dollars and were at least 6000 square feet.

It was ridiculous. Many of the houses were more like hotels and some of the decisions, both architecturally and interior design, were very questionable. Televisions were everywhere, and the children’s rooms were (seemingly) miles away from the parents’ suite. Dining rooms were tiny, which struck me as funny because many of the houses feature gigantic gourmet kitchens (complete with televisions, of course).

It was fun to go, but I didn’t find any inspiring design ideas.

System CPU (slightly) upgraded

System CPU (slightly) upgraded

Today, I dropped an Athlon 2400 (that I pulled out of the PVR, replacing it with an Athlon 3000) into the webserver to replace the Athlon 2000 CPU that had been in there. I wonder if you’ll notice any difference in speed or responsiveness on…
