DINNER 80: Tuesday, March 21, 2006

I blew it tonight. I really blew it. See, we were supposed to have rehearsal for DINNER WITH FRIENDS, the show I’m directing for Falcon Theater, but we got snow this morning (on the first full day of Spring, no less) and the weatherman was…

DINNER 81: Wednesday, March 22, 2006

Dinner was a low-key affair at the Pepper Pod restaurant in Newport Kentucky. Rehearsals for DINNER WITH FRIENDS, the show I am directing for Falcon Theater, are heating up. We open on March 31, so my attention is mainly on that show as hundreds of…

DINNER 82: Thursday, March 23, 2006

Still in early crunch-time for DINNER WITH FRIENDS, the show I am directing for Falcon Theater, my attention this evening after work wasn’t on gustatory delights but rather on collecting and organizing the music for my show.

I went through the drive-through at McDonald’s for their Premium Chicken Strips and some McDonaldland Cookies, which I took back to our rehearsal space and gobbled down before rehearsal.

One of the hard things about doing a show is the amount of time I spend away from home & Wendy. These 14-hour days are a bit rough, especially when they occur with such frequency. The other thing that’s bad is that my food intake, already reasonably crappy, gets even worse.

DINNER 83: Friday, March 24, 2006

Rehearsals are heating up for DINNER WITH FRIENDS, which I am directing for Falcon Theater. We had rehearsal tonight in our old rehearsal space; we get possession of the theater on Saturday morning. Dinner tonight was a run out to Mecklenburg Gardens in Clifton. I…

DINNER 84: Saturday, March 25, 2006

We had a morning rehearsal (from 11a-2p) at the theater this morning. The cast decided they wanted to grab “brekkie” at Pepper Pod beforehand, so we met there at 10a for eggs, toast, sausage, cottage cheese, and orange juice. One heck of a way to…

DINNER 85: Sunday, March 26, 2006

Today was our tech/build day. We went from an empty theater to a mostly-full set in one long day. A giant thank you to the cast and crew for working so efficiently. We’re mostly there!

Dinner after rehearsal was two of those awful microwavable burritos that you can get three for a dollar at Kroger’s. And they still make a profit on them. I cannot believe it, though my aching gut reminds me that it’s true!

After the tech day, we got home and worked ont he show music and sound effects. They’re essentially finalized; I just have to add the sound of a car arriving and departing as two cues, reorder everything to a more logical order, and we’re good to go.

DINNER 86: Monday, March 27, 2006

Tonight was the first night of hell week for DINNER WITH FRIENDS, the show I am directing for Falcon Theater. Hell week is more politely called tech week, and is the week before the show opens when all the technical elements — the set, lights,…
