Tonight, we headed north to Dayton Ohio to hear Peter Mulvey play at Canal Street Tavern (which is located, inexplicably, on First Street). We headed up toward Dayton early to make sure we could get tickets for the show. We stopped at Cafe Boulevard for…

Tonight, Drew headed over to a Pampered Chef party at our friend Tracy's house. Before the party, Drew stopped at SEBASTIAN'S, a west-side Greek place, for a gyro dinner. The Gyros are full of good sloppy meat, and are very, very tasty. This family-run restaurant is a Cincinnati tradition for Greek food.

From there, Drew went to Tracy's for the Pampered Chef party, where he purchased a baking stone and a couple other items.

DINNER: Wednesday, 7, 2003

For dinner tonight, Wendy picked up two nice steaks from the grocery, along with some lovely thin asparagus, and a couple baking potatoes. Some other odds-n-ends, and we've got the makings of a good meal.

I preheated the oven to 500 degrees, with one of my cast iron skillets in it. When the preheat light went out, I (carefully) removed the skillet and put it on a preheated burner up top and dropped the steaks in. The steaks had been seasoned with the amazingly flavorful MOTREAL SEASONING brought to us by our recent houseguests. I seared the steaks on both sides for about 90 seconds each, added some diced onion to the pan, then popped the skillet back into the hot oven to finish cooking.

The steaks came out of the oven and were tented to keep warm while I steamed the asparagus and baked the potatoes. Plated the food, dashed a little lemon on the asparagus, and we were off.

It was a nice meal!
