DINNER 71: Sunday, March 12, 2006

After a long week of many evenings out of the house, Wendy & I essentially hibernated today. With the exception of a trip out to Don Pablo’s for lunch, we stayed at home the whole day focusing on a few small projects around the house but mostly…

DINNER 70: Saturday, March 11, 2006

This evening, we went to dinner with our friends Brian & Milan to a restaurant about which they’ve been raving since we met them… Sukhothai Thai Cuisine on the north side of Cincinnati. The restaurant is tucked back off the main road and is difficult to…

HAPPY MOUTH — March 2006

HAPPY MOUTH — March 2006

This evening was another monthly outing of the HAPPY MOUTH SUPPER CLUB, and it was Tracy’s month to pick. Tracy indicated that she was feeling bold after her two most recent picks, so she selected THE CELESTIAL in Mount Adams. The Celestial has an absolutely amazing view of the Cincinnati skyline — perhaps the most beautiful setting in Cincinnati, and the clubby atmosphere with carved wood and elegant service is welcoming and warm.

Our large group (13 of us — Chuck, Kristy, Robin, Dave, Ron, Ted, Tracy, Angel, Jay, Holly, Ed, Wendy V, and Drew) was seated in a private dining area. Our server, David, did an excellent job making sure our needs were well cared-for.

We ordered appetizers — everything from Lobster Bisque to Goat Cheese-stuffed Vine Leaves to Baked Oysters to Raw Oysters. Everything was served at appropriate temperatures and flavors were good. The raw Oysters were fresh, plump, and briny.

Our entrees were very good as well, everything from American Kobe Beef with Gnocchi to Braised Red Snapper to Seafood Pasta dishes to steaks. All were very tasty, and even with our large group, dishes were served at the same time. Judging from the dramatic drop in the volume of our conversation when the food was delivered, all the diners enjoyed their meals.

The wine list was large and wide-ranging across all price ranges. The wines we selected (with some assistance from David) were all top-notch with our meals. Desserts were very good as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed The Celestial and will take out-of-town visitors there for the dramatic view and great food.

Another successful Happy Mouth! Good pick, Tracy!

DINNER 68: Thursday, March 9, 2006

We ate at Jeff Ruby‘s Steakhouse in downtown Cincinnati this evening with Wendy’s clients Anne & Larry. This is a steakhouse through and through, from the cigars available for purchase near the bar to the ‘exhibition room’ where the beef is dry aged to the…

DINNER 67: Wednesday, March 8, 2006

I didn’t have rehearsal tonight (nice to finally have a quiet night off!), but Wendy did. We had to run an errand to Home Depot before dinner, so we stopped at Steak & Shake which is very close to the hardware store for burgers and their wonderful french fries.

DINNER 66: Tuesday, March 7, 2006

Salad night, tonight. I had a meeting after work so didn’t have too much time before rehearsal. I ended up dashing to the drive-through at Wendy’s to get a Mandarin Chicken Salad and a small Frosty and hustling back to the rehearsal space. We had…
