Reading: The Nasty Bits

I’ve started reading THE NASTY BITS by Anthony Bourdain. I particularly enjoy reading his writing not only because he’s got a great take on food-related subjects and a conversational tone, but because his writing has progressed tremendously since his obnoxious, over-testosteroned memoir called KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL. I’ve…

DINNER 195: Friday, July 14, 2006

We joined Dave & Robin at the Old Spaghetti Factory this evening for a quiet dinner. Wendy & I had been out most of the nights this week, and were anxious for some downtime. Dinner and conversation was just what the doctor ordered! I had…

DINNER 196: Saturday, July 15, 2006

Tonight, Wendy & I attended the suprise anniversary party for Bess Arlene and Ossie who are celebrating 25 years of marriage. Their children hosted a lovely party at a clubhouse very near our home, so it was easy to get there and back (a nice change!). They were suitably surprised to see everyone — Bess couldn’t stop smiling the whole night!

The lovebirds were recently back from an anniversary trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and were full of stories (and probably some lobster, too!) from their trip.

Dinner was cheese & crackers, chips & salsa, shish-kabobs, salad, and a very nice cake for dessert.

DINNER 198: Monday, July 17, 2006

I took a vacation day from the office today to wait for our air conditioner repairman to tune-up our air conditioner which is, like every other air conditioner in hot Cincinnati, struggling with the heat. He also removed the broken motor from our whole-house fan…

DINNER 199: Tuesday, July 18, 2006

DINNER 199: Tuesday, July 18, 2006

This evening, a large group of us (Ted, Angel, Cindy, Denise, Mike, Greg, Parnell, Raven, Heather, Brian, Milan, Mike, Nicki, Wendy, and me) went to the third-Tuesday Wine Dinner at the Iron Horse Inn. Wendy & I have been attending this monthly event as often is we can (which is most months — thank heavens for a consistently scheduled event!) for the last 3.5 years or so. It’s great food and great wine at a great price, and we always have a blast with our friends.
