DINNER 161: Saturday, June 10, 2006
I got up very early for a Saturday in order to be at school by 8:00am to participate in the commencement ceremonies for this year’s graduates. It was raining at my house when I left, but by the time I got to school the skies were pretty clear, though they didn’t stay that way for long. It was brisk, breezy, and rainy all day, though the rain seemed to cooperate when we needed it to.
Julie and I had responsibilities to check in our graduates and then ensure that our reception was set up and ready to go. We did them and had enough time to relax a bit so we were ready when the ceremony let out — about an hour later than anticipated! Dr. Zimpher, the president of the University of Cincinnati stopped by our reception (well, I grabbed her while she was walking by) and posed for pictures with some of our graduates before scooting off to get ready for the afternoon ceremony.
I ate some of the food at the reception — cheese, little sandwiches, and cookies — and helped clean up before taking off for the evening’s activity.
